Obituary of Duain Edward Rice

Services for Duain Edward Rice, 83, New London, will be at 10:00 am, Monday, April 10, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton, with Reverend Johnny Wright officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm in Jarratt Cemetery, Jacksonville. Mr. Rice passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 in New London. He was born January 25, 1934 in Overton to the late Mercer C. and Mary C. Kee Rice. He was a life long resident of the New London and owned and operated Rice Self Service for twenty years. He is a veteran of the US Army and he retired from Mansfield Plumbing after 33 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Besides his parents, Mr. Rice was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Joyce Rice on February 8, 2014. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tim Jackson, New London; a grandson, Phillip Jackson; a step grandson, Justin Jackson; five great grandchildren, Jonathan Jackson, Kali Jackson, Taven Jackson, Gage Jackson, Layton Jackson, and Savannah Jackson. Pallbearers will be Phillip Jackson, Justin Jackson, Gage Jackson, John Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hearts Way Hospice of North East Texas, 4351 McCann Rd., Longview, TX 75604.
