Obituary of Oren Golden

Services for Oren K. Golden, Sr., 87, Arp, are scheduled for 4:00 pm, Thursday, June 28, at the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, with the Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick and the Reverends Joe Freeman and Ken Golden officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Williams Cemetery, near New Chapel Hill, under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mr. Golden passed away peacefully at his residence, Monday, June 25. He was born December 29, 1919, in Winthrop, Arkansas to the late John William Golden and Lula Bee Perdue Golden. He was a lifetime resident of East Texas. Mr. Golden was a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was also a member of the Canton Masonic Lodge #98, Arp. Mr. Golden was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He married Marguerite Boulter, in Tyler, October 11, 1943. Mr. Golden retired from Triton Oil and Gas. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Eva Kellis, Ruth Dykes, and Lena Harris. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marguerite Boulter Golden, Arp; a son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Ken and Sudie Golden, Ashdown, Arkansas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Scott Rhame, Arp and Anne and Robert Ortigo, Magnolia, Arkansas; a brother and sister-in-law, Audie and Opal Golden, New Chapel Hill; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Annie Golden, Martha Harris and Mary Shriver, all of New Chapel Hill and Beatrice and T.L. Williams, Arp; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Grandsons serving as Pallbearers will be Rusty Golden, Steven Rhame, Christopher Rhame, Robert Ortigo, John Ortigo and Corey Carpenter. Granddaughters serving as honorary Pallbearers will be Denise Carpenter, Jennifer Miller, Lisa Ortigo and Destini Ortigo. Also serving as honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church and the members of Canton Masonic Lodge #98, Arp. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, June 27.
