Obituary of Joy Annette Gregg

Funeral services for Joy Annette Gregg, 76,  of Nacogdoches will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 23, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with Reverend Jasen Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near New London. Mrs. Gregg passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at her residence in Nacogdoches. She was born March 5, 1941 in Henderson, to the late George Albert Herron, Sr. and Billie Louise McAdoo Herron. She graduated from Rusk High School in New London and had been a cheerleader, football sweetheart, homecoming queen and was class favorite in her senior year. She married Roland Wellington "Oodie" Gregg October, 1977 in New London, and retired from Citizens National Bank in Mt. Enterprise in August 2003 after 20 years, where she had worked as assistant administrator. Joy loved being outdoors and working in her yard. She was the sweetest person anyone could ever know.  She was a loving wife and mother and her joy in life was her family and she loved her brothers and sisters-in-law. She loved entertaining her family and friends.   Besides her parents, Mrs. Gregg was also preceded in death by a brother, George Alan Herron, February 10, 1998. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, R. W. ‘Oodie’ Gregg of Nacogdoches; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Darrick and Janae Henderson of Cushing, and Dean Gregg of Houston; three daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Gary Stubbs of Longview, Dinah Sabados of Houston, and Melissa McGuire of Fairfield; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry M. and Patricia Herron, Mt. Enterprise, Billy G. and Sue Herron and Joe Bob and Kathy Herron, all of New London; nine grandchildren, Matthew Henderson, Jarrod Henderson, Justin Stubbs, Jordan Stubbs, Lesli Morisak, Kristy Sabados, Royce McGuire, Erik Gregg, Logan Gregg, and Derik Gregg; several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Cody Herron, Justin Stubbs, Matthew Henderson, Jarrod Henderson, J. B. Herron, and Wayne Gaddis. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, March 22, at the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 8:00.
