He was a farmer/rancher, spent his happiest days in Buncum building endless barbed wire fences, hauling hay and feeding his cattle was a big part of his day. He grew the best cantaloupes, the juiciest tomatoes and the sweetest corn. Most importantly he outmaneuvered those watermelon-stealing coyotes with a maze of electric fence to get the ultimate prize. The competition was fierce between the Brown siblings for the best watermelon of the season. He was a man of determination. Buster was a long time member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Buster retired from Diamond Shamrock after many years of service. He was married to Elva Sue Williamson on April 3, 1953 in Pasadena, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of almost 57 years. He served in the United States Marines from November 1949 to March 1952. Survivors include: his children and their spouses, Rana Beth Rollins and David, Joel Brown and Paula, Janet Hine and Douglas and Susan Schlagel, all of Troup; his sister, Martha Burns of Austin, also by 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
