Obituary of Jeanette Helen O'Neal

Services for Jeanette Helen O’Neal, 87, Tyler, formerly of Overton, will be at 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 4, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Matt Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Overton City Cemetery. Mrs. O’Neal passed away, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. She was born February 11, 1930 in Walburg to the late Gus Mersiosky and Marie Pillack Mersiosky. She married Lee Roy O’Neal April 28, 1950 in Corpus Christi and was a domestic engineer and ranch hand. She was a longtime resident of Overton and had moved to Tyler from Henderson eight years ago. She was a number one fishing partner and fish cleaner, an extraordinary cook and a garage sale queen. She loved the Lord and her family and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Whitehouse where she loved her Pastor, Reverend Matthew Thomas. Besides her parents, Mrs. O’Neal was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Mersiosky, and two sisters, Evelyn Domel and Dorothy Tschoerner. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Lee Roy O’Neal of Tyler; a son and his wife, Lee Roy O’Neal, Jr., and Terri of China, Texas; two daughters, Deborah Ann Shelton of Longview, and Denise Carrifee of Tyler; a brother and sister-in-law, Edmund and Gloria Mersiosky of Georgetown: five grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Betty Ellsworth, Leah and Philip Childs, Amy and Kurt Wagenhauser, Lee and Christie O’Neal, and Christopher Shelton; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other family members and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Brandon Ellsworth, Christopher Shelton, Lee O’Neal, Philip Childs, Kurt Wagenhauser, Shawn Bates. Honorary pallbearer will be Dennis Roach. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Saturday, March 4, at the funeral home.
