David Persinger

Obituary of David Abe Persinger

David Abe Persinger, 63, left us on December 24, 2016 celebrating Christmas with Jesus this year. He was born in Lake Charles, LA on January 9, 1953 to Abe Persinger and Carrie Dell Field Persinger. David moved to Troup in 1956, graduated from Troup High School and received his Associate Degree in Petroleum Technology from Tyler Junior College. David spent his life working in the oil and gas industries until retirement in 2011. David was a member of the Carter BloodCare Volunteer Council, a Salvation Army volunteer, Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital volunteer, on Board of Directors of Starrville Water Supply Corporation and a former board member of New Creation Foundation in Troup. David loved God, family, friends and his Texas longhorn cattle. He and his wife attended Cross Brand Cowboy Church in Tyler. David lived life to the fullest and loved to travel. He tried to experience everything life had to offer. He married the love of his life, Bobbie, on April 1, 2010. David often told Bobbie, "I've had a great life and it's been a wild ride. I have lived and loved, and I have few regrets." David leaves behind many good friends. If you were his friend, you were his friend for life. If you were not his friend, it was only because he had not met you yet. David was preceded in death by his parents, Abe and Carrie Dell Persinger, sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Malcolm Estes, and nephew Bill Lacy. He is survived by his loving wife Bobbie of Whitehouse; sisters Dorothy Lacy and husband Jerry of Troup and Mable Sayes and husband Cecil of Vick, LA; twin step-daughters Benita Tomlinson and husband Zach of Pittsburg, TX and Bethany Sutton and husband Trae of Salado, TX; and step-grandchildren Hayden and Rylie Tomlinson and Bekah and Avery Sutton; brother-in-law Don Long and wife Sheila of Whitehouse; niece Aida Lacy and great nieces Katherine and Tiffany Lacy, all of Troup; and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held at The Gospel Barn in Troup, December 28, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Funeral services will also be held at The Gospel Barn on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:00 am with Reverend Zach Tomlinson, Reverend Greg Fleck, and Reverend Steven Oakes officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Troup, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home.
