Obituary of Jyl Cole Moose

Funeral services for Jyl Yvonne Cole Moose 81, of Tyler, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Troup, Thursday at 2:00 pm, October 6, 2016. Reverend Doug Blanton and Reverend John H. Cole will officiate the service under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Jyl passed away Monday, October 3, 2016. She was born February 8, 1935 in Tyler to the late John Y. Lawhon and Jonnie Fullerton Lawhon. Jyl moved to Troup in 1949 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Troup High School, went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin and began teaching in Chandler. Jyl retired from teaching and began working as the City Manager of Troup, where she also served on the Troup City Council from 1988-1992. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Billie Sue Griebel, and son Jeff Cole. Survivors include her sons, A.J. “Jody” Cole & wife Vicki of Terrell, John Cole & wife Sandy of Mixon, and Jay Cole & wife Cindy of Jacksonville; daughter in law, Debbie Cole; grandchildren, Jamee Cole, Tracee Cole, John Cole Jr, Chadd Cole, Jennifer Oliver, Todd Oliver, Bailey Cole, Jeflyn Cole, Ashley Cole, Jeff Cole Jr, and Taylor Cole; numerous nieces, including Lindsey Sullivan, nephews, 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jeff Cole Jr., Todd Oliver, Chadd Cole, Steve Little, Colby Mosseller, and Ty Oliver. The family will receive friends and loved ones at Cottle Funeral Home in Troup, Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 6-8 pm.
