Obituary of Laut "Jack" Hardy

Mr. Jack Hardy, 92 of Tyler, formerly of Arp passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 in a Tyler hospital. Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel in Troup with the Dr. Darrell Dunks officiating. A private family interment to follow under the directions of Cottle Funeral Home in Troup Jack was born December 2, 1923 in Arp, Texas to the late Laut Griffin Hardy and Mamie Lee Newman Hardy, he graduated from Arp High School and graduated from Northeast Texas College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and served three years in the United States Army during World War II obtaining the rank as Staff Sgt. He worked for Bell Helicopter for 30 plus years as a cost estimator. He and his wife were longtime members of the Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler where they both taught Sunday School and worked in the soup kitchen until it closed. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Hilltop Golf Club in Troup where he played often. He and Janet Schick Hardy married August 26, 1950 and were married for almost 56 years. Jack was a great husband and father. Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife, Janet Schick Hardy of Tyler; daughter, Shawn Susan Hardy of Cerrillos New Mexico; sister Pat Christiansen of La Jolla California; brother Bob Hardy of Fredericksburg and one grandson, Patrick Dowty of Austin. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 at Cottle Funeral Home in Troup. Online registration and condolences are available at www.cottlefuneralhome.com
