Obituary of Carol Ann Figueras
Graveside services for Carol Ann Studdard Haltom Figueras, 67 formerly of Troup, will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Fields Chapel United Methodist Church in Palestine, Texas. Reverend Danny Warbington will be officiating the service under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Carol Ann Figueras passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 in Longview, Texas. She was born in Palestine, Texas on July 11, 1948 to the late Jack Studdard and Billie Lasiter Studdard. Carol was their oldest daughter and attended Maydelle schools where she was active in Home Economics and FFA. Carol enjoyed playing basketball, cheerleading and riding horses. She married Tommy Haltom Sr. in 1964 and had two children, Tommy Haltom Jr and Virginia Lynn Haltom. Carol then moved to Marshall, Texas in 1971 and completed her associates degree in Corrosion Technology at Kilgore College in 1985.
Carol was a member of the Hallsville Chapter of the Eastern Stars and later transferred to the Tyler Chapter. She moved to Troup in 1995 and married the love of her life, Louis Figueras in 2005. The two of them lived out their lives together in Troup and Tyler until Louis passed in April 2015. In July 2015, Carol moved to Longview to be closer to her loving family. Her greatest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol had an unwavering faith in God and was a lifelong Baptist. Over the years she was involved with many church activities, including bible studies and fund raisers. She and Louis functioned as the chaplains for Legacy Hospice in Tyler for many years.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Figueras; father, Jack Studdard; mother & step father, Billie Jean Sadler and Elmer Sadler; baby brother, Billy Jack Studdard; grandson, Wade Haltom.
Survivors include her son, Tommy N. Haltom, Jr & wife Terri of Hallsville; daughter, Virginia Hardaway-George & husband David of Longview; brother Mike Studdard of Palestine; sister, Ava Chaffin of Bullard and Alesia Cooke of Sugarland; grandchildren, Justin Hardaway, Mallori Hardaway, Kaitlyn Hardaway, Josie Haltom, Harlie Haltom; great grandchildren, Kasidy and Tate Hardaway; other survivors include several nieces, nephews and other special family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Billy Glenn, Randy Chaffin, John Studdard, Treton Chaffin, Clay Cooke and Carroll Chaffin.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Mulberry Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 16376 FM Rd 449, Hallsville, Texas 75650.
Special appreciation to the staff of Longview Regional Medical Center, Surgical, Heart & Vascular Units, Whispering Pines Lodge staff and Heart to Heart Hospice.
