Obituary of Terry Joe Lyon

Funeral services for Terry Lyon, 72, of Troup, will be held Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel in Troup. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Arp under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home. Mr. Lyon passed away Monday, September 21, 2015 in Tyler, Texas. Terry was born on December 18, 1942 in Troup, Texas to Augustus Lyon and Clarine Narcomy Lyon. Terry was a lifetime resident of this area and worked for ARCO Pipeline Company for 27 years as a welder. Mr. Lyon proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. Terry was also a member of the Laney Gambell American Legion Post 418 in Troup, Texas and always enjoyed spending time there. Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Augustus and Clarine Lyon, the mother of his children, Ina Mitchell Lee; 2 brothers, Freddie Lyon and Floyd Lyon; and a granddaughter, Ashley Willis. Survivors include 3 children; Michael Lyon and wife Rebekah of Troup, Teresa McPherson of Troup, Susan Willis and husband Duane of Fred; 3 sisters, Betty Sadler of Tyler, Mary Carroll of Whitehouse, Gloria Clements of Arp; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Justin Lyon, Cory Lyon, Kirby Lyon, Kelby Lyon, Clint Willis, and Duane Willis. Honorary Pallbearer is Larry Welch. The family will receive friends and loved ones Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel, Troup.
