Obituary of Russell Wayne Petty

Memorial services for Russell Wayne Petty, 69, Arp, are scheduled for 10:00 am, August 15, 2015 on the 1st floor in the Cross Walk Center in Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler, with Reverends Gary Newman and Tommie Harden officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mr. Petty died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at his residence. He was born July 12, 1946 in Pasadena. He Married Mary Frances Patterson December 17, 1966 in Tyler and has lived in the East Texas area for many years and in Arp the past eleven years. He worked as a contract nurse for Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, Tyler and was one of the first male nurses to work in their OBGYN. He also was a contract nurse at East Texas Medical Center Hospital, Tyler, Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, Nacogdoches, and Laird Hill Hospital, Kilgore. He was a floor supervisor at Nan Travis Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville. He also worked for Karats by Kiser Jewelers and he was an ordained minister and was a evangelist and traveled around in the East Texas Area in his ministry. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler and was a volunteer in the Widows Ministry and the Stephens Ministry. Survivors include his wife of of 49 years, Mary Petty, Arp; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard Duane and Teresa Petty, Tyler; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Don and Peggy Petty, Nacogdoches and William ‘Bill’ Petty, Oklahoma; three sisters, Carolyn, Farris and Linda Newton, both of Oklahoma, Pam McDonald, Bay City, and Gayle Bissitt, Houston; three grandchildren, Justin Petty and his wife Chancie, Tiffany Petty, and Kaylee, Petty; two great grandchildren, Corbin Petty and Kye Petty.
