Obituary of Edmund Leo Hegar

Funeral services for Edmund Leo Hegar, 92, Troup, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Chuck Warnock officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Hegar passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was born April 22, 1923 in Abbott, Texas to Jan Hegar and Ina Foit Hegar. Mr. Hegar was a US WWII Navy Veteran, he served as 2nd Class Seaman in the South Pacific during WWII. He retired as Postmaster from Troup and he was a member of New Covenant Church in Longview. Survivors include wife of 71 years, Varena Marsh Hegar of Troup; son, Gary Hegar and wife Carol of Big Sandy; granddaughters, Daphne Foster and husband Patrick Pratt of Troup, Misty Swinney of Tyler and Stephanie Hegar of Big Sandy; 3 great grandchildren, Victoria Swinney, Justin Pratt,Jacob Baker and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, May 22, 2015. Pallbearers will be Lawrence Junek, Mike Parks, Danny Moravac, Willie Moravac, Patrick Pratt, John Skrdla and Alvin Moravac. Memorials can be made to New Covenant Church, P.O.
