Obituary of Winford Dale Biddle
Memorial services for Winford Dale Biddle, 78, of Troup, will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ben Alexander officiating, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home.
Mr. Biddle passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Tyler. He was born April 24, 1937 in Direct, Texas.
At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Army completing 2 years. Upon completing High School in Munday, TX he transferred to the Navy where he retired as Master Chief Petty Officer after serving our country for another 20 years. He spent 38 years in the Naval Reserves. Dale was a lifetime member of the Military Officers association.
At the age of 37 he became a Mason. During this time he was elected to the Highest honor of Worshipful Master at Troup Dixie Lodge #272 in 2009 & 2010. He was also a York Rite And Commandry Mason.
Dale was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1799.
He was involved in all types of his children's school activities - from Band Boosters, substitute teaching, to being the SAC teacher (for those who got in trouble) known for his phrase of "assume the position". - he enjoyed watching and supporting his children in every aspect of their lives and the lives of their friends. He was a true "life coach" to so many, always filled with stories of the past and helpful direction for the future. Dale loved life. His hobbies included tinkering with his many toys on the farm and having wonderful meaning conversations with his wife, helping his children succeed, and loving on his grand babies. Dale was truly one of a kind.
Mr. Biddle was preceded in death by his mother, Mamie Catherine Dunn, and Son-in-Law, Brian Wayne O'Neill.
He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 16 years, Jane Coleman Biddle of Troup; Ex-wife of 25 years Elaine Garside Biddle of Houston; Son, Kenneth Dale Biddle of Austin, Son, Rodney Eiland and wife, Amy of Troup; daughter, Mary Biddle O'Neill of Tyler, granddaughters, Jordan Avery Biddle-O'Neill and Addison Grace O'Neill of Tyler; Grandson, Alan Dale O'Neill also of Tyler. Sister; Catherine Yarborough and husband, Robert of Whitney. Along with many loved nieces and nephews and their children.
Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Cottle Funeral Home, 105 E Bradford St, in Troup, TX 75789
