Obituary of Rev Fred Egger

Funeral Services for Reverend Fred C. Egger, 82, Overton, will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 17, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with Reverend Lee Bryan officiating. Burial will be in the Kilgore City Cemetery, Kilgore. Mr. Egger died Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in Longview. He was born October 27, 1932 in Rising Star to the late John Archie Egger and Sally Lorene West Egger. He moved to Overton with his parents in 1933 and attended Leverett’s Chapel and graduated in 1951. He began work in the oilfield for Beren-Jaffe Company and retired after 43 years as superintendent. He served in the US Army from March 1953 to February 1955 and met and married Jennie Vee Laningham March 2, 1952. They were born again in Christ in early 1975 and in 1981 they started a church in the Leverett’s Chapel community and pastored there until late 1989. They served as Pastors of the House of Prayer Church from February 1997 to May 2008. At the time of Mr. Eggers death, he was a member of the Living Word Church. Besides his parents and their spouses, Mr. Egger was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Vee Egger on July 24, 2011, a granddaughter, Frances Tennison, and a very special niece, Jennie Sue Smith. Fred is survived by his children and their spouses, Terica and Terry Wilson, Laura and Walter Jones, Jonathan and Victoria Egger; eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, special nieces and nephews, Ira Mitchell, Muriel Mabe, Riley Laningham, Ray Laningham and Fred Henson, Sr.; a very special friend that made the last 4 years of his life happier, Joyce Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Saturday, May 16.
