Obituary of Juliette Salyer

Juliette (Judy) Gill Salyer, 86, of New London, Texas, died May 10, 2015 due to a long term illness, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Henry L. Gill and Julia Maude Gill in Rusk County, Texas on May 7, 1929. She attended school in Joinerville, Texas and was a Gaston Red Devil. She married the late Oran L. Salyer in 1945 and they spent most of their married life in New London until his death in 1976. Juliette was a homemaker and she was passionate about cooking and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed being outdoors and loved to fish. Taking care of her grandchildren was one of the great joys of her life. She was a Baptist and a member of the Turnertown Baptist Church. She is survived by three children: Judith Galloway of Liberty City, Texas, Jan Banks of New London, Texas, and Susan Brown of Tyler, Texas. She also had a daughter Sandra Raska who preceded her in death. She is also survived by three brothers: Henry L. Gill, Jr. of Henderson, Texas, and Roy J. Gill of Longview, Washington and Oran L. Gill of Shreveport, Louisiana. Her survivors also include ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pulmonary Research Fund, (BUSM), Boston University School of Medicine. A viewing will be held at Cottle~Pearson Funeral Home In Overton, Texas on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be at Cottle~Pearson Funeral Home in Overton, Texas on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 4:00 pm. Burial at the Overton Cemetery in Overton, Texas. The Reverend Roy Gill will be officiating along with Reverend James Palmer. Pallbearers will be William Evans, Greg Galloway, Jeffery Moore, John Johnson, Roy Sanders and Seth James.
