Obituary of Lester E. ‘Pete’ Gregg
Graveside services for Lester E. "Pete' Gregg, 80, Joinerville are scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 13 at the Concord Cemetery, near Troup, with Reverend Jim Norman officiating, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Lester went to join his Savior on the eve of his wedding anniversary peacefully at his home with his family by his side. Lester was born January 15, 1931, in Oklahoma City to the late Clyde and Doris Mae Murphy Gregg.
He was a 1950 graduate of New London High School. Lester entered the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served in the Korean War. He worked for Bonar Packing in Tyler for 35 years before retiring.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.
Lester was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church, Troup.
He married the love of his life Tina Lauderdale July 12, 1982, in Idabel, Oklahoma.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Cartha Lee Gregg.
Lester is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tina Gregg, Henderson; daughter and son-in-law Karla and Kelly Hampton, Mount Enterprise; son, David Leister, Childress; granddaughter, Faith Hampton, Mount Enterprise; five brothers and two sisters.
At his request and heartfelt thank you to Compassionate Hospice Care of Chandler, Texas, and their staff, Dena, Glenda, Alma and Mike.
