Obituary of Juanita Locklear

Graveside services for Mary Juanita Simpson Locklear, 95, Arp, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 25, at Mason Cemetery, Arp, with the Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mrs. Locklear died Sunday, March 22, 2015 in Tyler. She was born December 8, 1919, in Meeker, Oklahoma to the late W. F. and Jessie Ramsey Simpson. She married Dewey Earl Locklear September 19, 1939 and was a homemaker. She moved to Arp in 1962 from Georgia and was a master seamstress for her family. She was a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church and a member of the Ester Sunday School Class. Besides her parents, Mrs. Locklear was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Earl Locklear on February 15, 1962, two siblings, Leona “Pee Wee’ Honeycutt and Floyd Simpson, and a son, James E. Locklear. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Vernon Bedair, Arp; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard and Dena Locklear, Arp, Bill and Alesa Locklear, Fort Collins, Colorado, and Frank Locklear, Round Rock; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Bedair Kennedy, Jennifer Bedair Todd, LeAnn Locklear Curry, Lacey Locklear George, Amy Locklear, Ted Locklear, Stephanie Locklear Albrecht, and Travis Locklear; fourteen great grandchildren and two nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Kennedy, Jason Todd, Mack Curry, Chris George, Darren Albrecht, Travis Locklear, and Ted Locklear. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 24.
