Obituary of Samuel Kelsey

Services for Samuel C. Kelsey, 70, Troup, are scheduled for 4:00 pm, Sunday, July 10 at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverend Mike Cline officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup. Mr. Kelsey died Wednesday, July 6 in a Tyler hospital. He was born January 4, 1941, in Yuma, Arizona to the late Edbert Luther Kelsey and Edna May Parker Kelsey. He had been a resident of Troup for the past 15 years, moving from Winona.  He was an avid hunter and gun collector who loved ranching. He also deeply loved his family.  Mr. Kelsey was a retired mechanic. He married Barbara Ann Clardy in Dallas, March 25, 1960. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Barbara Ann Kelsey, Troup; two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Julie Kelsey, Lindale and Kevin and Jessica Kelsey, Virginia Beach, Virginia; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Deela and Carl Smith, Rockwall, Denina Kelsey, Troup, Sammie and Tommy Day, Whitehouse and Tonja and Anthony Hanks, Rowlett; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Diane Kelsey, Larue; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirlee and Merle Sloan, Winona and Nettie Pearl and William Nichols, Muskogee, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until Noon, Sunday, July 10. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Kelsey, Kevin Kelsey, Kenny Kelsey, Ray Broussard, Dan Gattis , Bert Thornberry, Ryan Crebbs and Heath Ginn. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
