Obituary of Sammy Joe Norman

Funeral services for Sammy Joe “Sam” Norman, 57, Troup are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kern Railsback officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Norman passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at his residence. He was born December 19,1957 in Overton, Texas, to Noel Douglas Norman and Doris Katherine Dacke Norman. Sam loved to fish, hunt, dance, tell funny stories and listen to “his” music. He graduated from Troup High School in 1976, After graduation he went into the oilfield construction for a number of years, then he went to work for Brown and Root as an Ironworker and traveled with Brown and Root to Mississippi, California, Oklahoma and Baytown, Texas, after leaving Brown and Root he went into construction work with his brother, John. Sam always wanted people to be happy and laugh. Sam will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Noel Douglas Norman. Survivors include his mother, Doris Dacke Norman of Troup; a brother, John Norman and wife Fran of Troup; a sister, Anne Williamson and husband Dr. Gary Williamson of Athens; nephew, Dustin Norman of Troup; 2 children, Tiffany Norman Acker of Conroe and Jason Norman of Conroe; 3 grandchildren, Robert Acker, Samantha Norman and Zach Norman. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, Saturday, March 6, 2015, prior to the service.
