Obituary of Stathen Heath Shuttlesworth

Funeral services for Stathen Heath Shuttlesworth, age 34, of Arp, will be held on Wednesday, December 3, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Cottle~Pearson Funeral Home in Overton, with the Reverend Mike Rice Officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery, Wright City. Stathen was born on September 8, 1980 in Tyler, to Deborah Lyles Howard and Dicky Wayne Shuttlesworth. Stathen passed away peacefully at his home on November 30, 2014. Stathen graduated from Arp High School and Tyler Jr. College. He attended The University of Texas at Austin where he earned his bachelors degree in chemistry and a dual degree in Biology. Stathen was currently enrolled in The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and working towards his medical degree. Stathen was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Chester Lyles and Othar (O.D.) Shuttlesworth, and an Aunt, Mellissa Kay Gillispie. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Deborah Lyles Howard and David Charles Howard; father and stepmother, Dicky Wayne Shuttlesworth and Barbara Shuttlesworth; grandmothers, Edith Lyles Starkes and Opal Shuttlesworth; Uncles, Randall (Dugan) Lyles and Billy Shuttlesworth; aunt Gloria Cook; and several cousins and one special cousin Rylee Rae Lyles (Rylee Roo); all of Arp. Pallbearers will be Randall (Dugan) Lyles, Colton Lyles, Jon Farrell Lyles, Mark Andrews Jr., Justin Carson, Dallas Freeman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam and Blaine Ducksworth. Visitation is Scheduled from 6 to 8 pm, on Tuesday, December 2, at the funeral home.
