Obituary of Cager Wilkins

Memorial services for Cager Wilkins, 74, of Troup, will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 6:30 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Troup with Rev. Tommy Earl Burton officiating under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Wilkins died on November 15, 2014 in Troup. He was born on October 17, 1940 in Wellington, Texas to the late Lewis Alton Wilkins and the late Jimmie D. (Shumate) Wilkins. He married Sandra Ashcraft on August 16, 1963. He was a retired owner and operator of an electronics business and served in the US National Guard. He had been a resident of Troup for 51 years and attended the First United Methodist Church of Troup. Mr. Wilkins loved to sit in his recliner and look out his big window watching the deer and other animals roam. He was very involved in horses with his girls and loved to hunt and fish, and he was a member of the Wellington Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Wilkins of Troup; two daughters, Rhonda Bender and Robin Schmitz and husband Ronald, both of Troup; four grandchildren, T.R. Bender, Brandi McAlpine, Kristen Johnsen, and Jacob Johnsen; and six great grandchildren, Emiliee and Alayna McAlpine, Bittany, Jaxson Cager, and Derrick Ray Bender, and Kyla Norris; niece, Nancy Wright and husband Ronald; great nephew, Cody Wright; nephew, Mike Payne and wife Debra; great niece Kaylan Payne all of Temple.
