Obituary of Warren Harding Patterson

Services for Warren ‘Pat’ Patterson, 93, Arp, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church with Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. Burial will follow in the Mason Cemetery, Arp, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Patterson died Thursday, October 16, 2014, in a Tyler retirement home. He was born November 22, 1920, in Smith County, Texas to the late Joseph T. Patterson and Mattie E. Felts Patterson. He married Avis Smith Patterson, November 26, 1941, in Wichita Falls and moved to Arp in 1983 from Tyler. He was a Printer pressman with Story-Wright in Tyler. Mr. Patterson was a veteran of WWII US Air Force and a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Patterson was also preceded in death by his wife Avis Patterson and son Michael L. Patterson. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Frances and Russ Petty, Arp, Patricia Ann Patterson, Plano and Linda Kay and Bob Harrington, Chapel Hill; five grandchildren, Richard Duane Petty, Matt Harrington, Josh Harrington, Kim Patterson and Stephanie Patterson; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Doug Williams, Ted Echard, Johnny Stapleton, Nolin Calicutt, Jamie Morgan, Norman Powell and John Frank Lanham. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Friday, October 17. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church, PO Box 87 Arp, Texas, 75750.
