Obituary of Mary Kathryn Montgomery

Services for Mary Kathryn Montgomery, 75, Overton, will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, September 29, in the First United Methodist Church, Overton with Reverends Fred Parsons and Ricky Ricks officiating. Burial will be in the Overton City Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mrs. Montgomery died Friday, September 26, 2014 in Tyler. She was born February 7, 1939 in Hodge, Louisiana to the late John H. and Kathryn Lewis Dennis. She married Jack William Montgomery, November 7, 1959 in Hodge, Louisiana and has been a resident of Overton for 50 years. She worked as Office Manager for Montgomery Repair Service and was a member of the Queen Price Garden Club. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was a avid Mahjongg player. Mrs. Montgomery served on the Overton ISD School Board for nine years and was a board member and treasurer for the Overton City Cemetery Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was very active in her church. She was a member of the Angels In Training Group, the church choir, and numerous other church committees and as well as many community activities. She was very active in the community and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Jack Montgomery, Overton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Tod Hollis of Frisco, Texas; Margaret and Ed Hoyt of Little Elm, Texas and Martiel and Stewart Miller of Flushing, Michigan; a brother and sister-in-law John H. Dennis, Jr. and wife Murray, Thibodaux, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Kathryn Hollis, Jackson Hollis, Sarah Hoyt, Michael Hoyt, Reese Miller, Allie Miller and Abby Miller; a niece and two nephews Meade Adams, Brian Dennis, and John Chandler Dennis; and a host of friends. The family will receive friends at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 28.
