Obituary of Tommy S. Gibson
Tommy S. Gibson, 84, of Overton, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014. He was born December 25, 1929 in Wingo, Kentucky to the late Walton and Bloomer Gibson. After serving in the Army he married the late Charlene Salyer, worked and raised his family in the Wichita, Kansas area. He later moved to Clarksville, Arkansas and worked for Tyson Foods, and then to Overton, Texas where he worked and retired from Target in Tyler.
Tommy Gibson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Charlene Gibson, and his son, Thomas Charles Gibson. He is survived by two brothers, Jerald Gibson of Denham Springs, Louisiana, and Bob Gibson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one sister, Betty Gibson Campbell of Clinton, Kentucky; two daughters, Karen Gibson Walton and her husband, Townsend ‘T’ Walton of Newton, Kansas, and Desiree Gibson Lantz and her husband Michael Lantz of Overton, Texas; and six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Tommy Gibson’s remains were cremated, and a graveside service will be held in Newton, Kansas. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
