Obituary of Betty Lou Swinney
Services for Betty Lou Swinney, 83, San Antonio, formerly of Arp, will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 18, in the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel, Troup, with Reverend Gaylon Taylor and Sam Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Mixon Cemetery near Troup.
Betty Lou went to be with her Lord, on Friday, June 13, 2014, after a long illness of kidney disease. At the time of her death, she lived with her husband, Bobby Swinney and daughter & son-in-law, Sam & Debbie Carpenter in San Antonio, Tx.
She was born June 7, 1931, in Troup to the late John and Susie Caroline Willingham. She married Bobby J. Swinney on March 6, 1954 and they celebrated 60 years together. She was a housewife, who loved to cook and clean her house. She loved babies and her husband is always saying she raised the best 3 children. She loved to sit in her swing and watch the birds, but most of all, she loved Jesus. She put her faith in Him and called on Him always. She was Pentecostal.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Willingham and J.T. Willingham.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Swinney, San Antonio (home in their hearts was still in Arp); her daughter and son-in-law, Sam & Debbie Carpenter, of San Antonio; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cindy Swinney, of Whitehouse; Duane & Kay Swinney, of Troup; six grandchildren, Matthew Carpenter, Sam Carpenter Jr., Crystal Seiford, Jessica Garen, Seth Swinney, and Julie Swinney; seven great grandchildren, McKenna & Everett Carpenter, Jakob, Sam, and Carsen Carpenter, and Jack and Reed Seiford; two brothers, Charlie & Vernon Willingham; two sisters, Johnnie Corn and Barbara Dickey.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Carpenter, Seth Swinney, Tony Warren, James Garen, Bruce Smith and Roger Swinney. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Carpenter, Jr. and Corey Melton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 17, 2014.
