Obituary of Connie Mack Monk

Services for Connie Mack Monk, 81, Troup, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, in the Cottle Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Tommy Burton officiating. Burial will be at 4:00 pm in Wofford Cemetery, Frankston. Mr. Monk passed Saturday, May 24, 2014 at his residence in Troup. He was born August 29, 1932 in Jacksonville to the late Tennie Owen and Thelma Louise Richardson Monk. He graduated Henderson High School and Kilgore College and is a veteran of the US Army. He married Linda Kathryn Franklin August 7, 1984 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He moved to Troup from Tyler 29 years ago and worked for the City of Henderson for eight years as the Director of Public Works. He retired from the Texas Highway Department after 34 years and was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 418, Troup. He went to various posts to swear in new members and he also spoke a various American Legion Posts in the area. He was a domino player and played in Domino Tournaments and he also coached Little League in Henderson. He was a loving and caring grandfather and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troup. Survivors include his wife, Linda Monk, Troup; a son, Richard Monk, Tyler; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Amy Coleman, Troup; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Randy White, Whitehouse; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, May 26, from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
