Obituary of Thomas Edward Carter

Funeral services for Thomas Edward Thomas, 69, Troup, will be 12:00 noon, Friday, May 23, 2014 at Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with Superintendent Johnny Tillman with Full Gospel Temple of Tyler officiating. Burial will be in the Dallas / Fort Worth National Cemetery, Tuesday, May 27, 2014, 1:15 pm, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Carter died Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Troup. He was born December 22, 1944, in Staunton,VA, to the late Roger Carter and Mabel Maupin Carter. A graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Sealman aboard the ship USS Cabildo. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving four tours. A graduate of New York University Institute of Dietetics, he attended East Texas Bible College in Tyler, 1978, he earned his degree in dietetics. He loved horses and became a horse farmer. He was preceded in death by two sons, Nathan and Samuel Carter, a brother, Maurice; sister, Marion and nephews, Terry, Maurice Smith. Survivors include his wife Carol Carter, Lexington, KY; children, Tia Carter, Rockwall, A/Nath Carter, Lexington, KY, Hephazibah Carter Barnett and husband Danny, Carlisle, KY; Thomas Maddox and wife Zebebia, Tamoy Carter and wife Jamakea, Lexington, KY; Atlanta; GA Joel Carter and Randell, Achorage, AL; brothers, Roger Carter and wife, Elizabeth, Silver Springs,MD; Preston Carter and wife Jennifer, Staunton, VA and Douglas Carter and Connie, Staunton, VA; 16 grandchildren.
