Obituary of Marvin G. Hughes

Funeral services for Marvin G. Hughes, 80, Whitehouse, will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Whitehouse United Methodist Church with Reverends Matt Thomas and Chuck Bratz officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery, Rusk under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. Hughes died Monday, April 28, 2014 in Tyler. He was born August 28, 1933 in Center, Texas to the late Marvin Doyle Hughes and Beulah Weathersby Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict and he was retired from Kelly Springfield in Tyler and he was a member of Whitehouse United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Billy Doss Hughes, sister Melba Danley, 1st wife of 38 years Bonnie Faye McClain Hughes and 2nd wife of 16 years Martha McMillan Hughes. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Glenda Stone, of Tyler, Nancy and Michael Jeter, of Whitehouse; Jan and Joe Don Abernathy, of Whitehouse; brother Gerald Hughes, of Timpson; sisters and brothers-in-law, JoAnn and Gordon Martin, of Joaquin, and Patsy and David Garrie, of Highland; 7 grandchildren, Donna Howard and husband DeAndre, Allen Stone, Kelli MacDonald and husband Rod, John Jeter, Shelby Jeter, Jayanna Williams and husband Craig and Jentry Caussey; 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews . The family would like to offer a special appreciation and much love to caregivers, Sonja Burks, Frances Johnson and Josephine Lee, and the loving staff at The Hospice of East Texas HomePlace. Pallbearers will be Billy Hughes, Bruce Hughes, Ricky Martin, Tommy Danley, David Bruce and Rod MacDonald. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 30. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Whitehouse United Methodist Church, 405 W.
