Obituary of Mary Ellen Adams

Services for Mary Martin Adams, 76, Troup, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Martin’s Chapel Church of the Nazarene, Troup, with the Reverends Andy Cox and M.H. Klink officiating. Burial will be at the Concord Cemetery, Troup, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.  Mrs. Adams died Saturday, March 15, in Tyler. She was born September 19, 1937, in Tecula, Texas to the late Willis and Callie Jane Morrison.  She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She attended The Gospel Barn in Troup.  Besides her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Don Gayle Martin; sister, Lafayette Ray Thompson; and husband, Howard Adams.  Survivors include son Larry Gayle Martin of Concord, daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Steven Oakes of Troup, grandson Jarod Oakes and granddaughter-in-law Jane, grandson Heath Oakes, great-grandchildren, Kinley and Nolan Oakes, and sister Nancy Bolton and husband Jimmy of Jacksonville; four stepchildren and their families Howard Adams Jr., Robert and Sharon Adams, Bill and Michelle Adams, and Randy and Carolyn Gouldthorpe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Adams was “Mimi” to many other family members including: Rachel Cox Smith, Tiffany Upton, Cliff and Ava Johnson of Troup, Coy, Clint, and Cody Johnson.  Pallbearers will be Jerry Bolton, Bill Byrd, Steve Hohmann, Jimmy Martin, Shannon Martin, Todd Martin, and Jeff Ray. Honorary pallbearers are Coy Johnson, Clint Johnson, and Cody Johnson.  The family will receive friends at Cottle Funeral Home, Troup from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, March 17.
