Obituary of Essie Mae Massingill

Funeral services for Essie Mae Massingill, 86, Troup, will be 11:00 am, Monday, March 17, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Troup, with Reverend Tommy Earl Burton officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mrs. Massingill died Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Tyler. She was born March 3, 1928, in Alexandria, LA, to the late Ira Roy Gabbert and Vera Haisty Gabbert. She had a bachelors degree and was a teacher, she retired from teaching at Troup School for 15 years, as a sixth grade teacher and she was a member of First United Methodist Church, Troup. She is preceded in death by her husband John Massingill and son, Clifton Massingill. Survivors include her daughter, Jan Alderman and husband Jim, Tyler; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Lobo, Barbie Johnston, Kenneth Shaw, Jonathon Massingill and Samantha Fay, and 8 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Don Fay, Kenneth Shaw, Jonathan Massingill, Tim Shaw, Kody Johnston and Jim Alderman. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Sunday, March 16, 2014. Memorial can be made, if desired to: American Lung Association, 55 W.
